Luxembourg Unesco: An exclusive stay dedicated to Luxembourg's World Heritage

This press trip has one single element at its core: Luxembourg’s UNESCO World Heritage.

First of all, you will discover the heart of the capital, its fortifications and old city, which are part of UNESCO World Heritage. Explore the history of the ancient "Gibraltar of the North" and its underground tunnels Casemates which are one of the most popular attractions of the capital. You can discover the capital with all its urban, cultural and natural diversity, get a glimpse of the Grand-Ducal palace and enjoy a walk through history on the famous  “Wenzel” trail.

After a wander through the capital, we will move east, to the city of Echternach, located in the Mullerthal region, also known as Luxembourg’s little Switzerland. On Whit Tuesday, Luxembourg’s oldest city hosts the hopping procession, listed as immaterial UNESCO World Heritage. Don’t be afraid to take part. This religious and folkloristic gathering honours Saint Willibrord and is still incredibly popular. Every year, it attracts almost 12'000 pilgrims, which give the medieval city an atmosphere of old times.

The third leg of the trip takes us to Clervaux, which is tucked away in the north of the country in the Ardennes. Located in the valley of the river Clerve, the village is home to a medieval castle built in the 12th century, which displays among other exhibits, the permanent exhibition The Family of Man. This photographic collection, brought together by Edward Steichen for the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 1955 is part of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register.

The team of Luxembourg for Tourism and its partners will welcome you on this trip labelled “100% UNESCO”. You will also have the chance to explore all the highlights, which make the discovery of the unexpected Luxembourg even more interesting.
