Luxembourg’s tourism trade mission to the USA 23-25 May 2017

Representatives of the Economy Ministry and Luxembourg for Tourism (LFT) are currently in the United States for a tourism trade mission. Workshops in New York and Chicago are showing local tourism professionals the rich diversity of attractions in the Grand Duchy.

Also on the itinerary are a visit to the Luxembourg American Cultural Center in Belgium (Wisconsin), and a meeting with the specialist media in Chicago. Representatives of Voyages Emile Weber and the Château d’Urspelt are also part of the delegation.

The aim of this trade mission is to encourage tour operators to feature the Grand Duchy on packages designed for Americans. The trip is also reinforcing Luxembourg’s reputation as a interesting, varied tourist destination.

“Remembrance tourism” is a key theme, based on the many historical links between Luxembourg and the United States. American tourists are often particularly interested in the memorial sites dedicated to tragic events in World War II. In particular, they are drawn to the monuments and museums linked to General Patton and America’s role in liberating the country from German occupation

In 2016, there were 76,000 overnight stays in Luxembourg by travellers from the United States. This represents a 7.1% increase since 2012, and there is every sign that the American market offers growth potential to Luxembourg’s tourism industry.
